Over 2,000 Families Expected at Destiny's Christmas Outreach Event on Saturday
Saturday, December 9th 9:30am in Rocklin, California
Rocklin, California — Love Our City Christmas, the largest Christmas outreach event in the Sacramento region, is scheduled for Saturday, December 9th, at the Destiny Community Center in Rocklin, California.
Thousands of underserved families and children will be invited to enjoy a day of Christmas merriment. Each child will receive a toy, shoes, jacket, and book for Christmas, while the entire family enjoys pictures with Santa Claus, free clothing, hot chocolate, and games everyone will enjoy.
The 64,000 sq ft Destiny Community Center is transformed into Christmas-themed rooms for the kids to explore and enjoy while they have their practical needs met.
Many community leaders are expected to attend, including Congressman Kevin Kiley, State Assemblymember Joe Patterson, Rocklin Mayor Ken Broadway, Placer County Supervisor Shanti Landon, and others.
Tanner DiBella, Communications Director for Destiny Church and the event, said:
In addition to the practical needs that are met, we want each family to know how truly loved they are. The holidays can be a reminder of loss, lack, and loneliness, and we want each child and parent to feel seen and loved. Christmas is a reminder to us all of the profound gift of grace, mercy, love, and salvation, and we desire each family to walk away with that realization.
This year marks the 11th year of the Christmas outreach event. Pastor Greg Fairrington, Senior Leader of Destiny Christian Church, said:
We began Love Our City Christmas in 2013 out of a desire to bless the community. For many during the holiday season, there are practical needs that are simply not met. Food, clothing, and security seem out of reach for many underserved families, and that becomes more prominent during the holidays. Destiny's Christmas outreach event helps meet those needs and more, where we can bless families and provide a wonderful Christmas experience with toys, books, pictures with Santa, and a day of cheer for everyone.
This year, Destiny has added a new element: a Christmas bookstore. Kids will enter into a Christmas-themed bookstore full of whimsy, wonder, and excitement. Each child will get the chance to select a book to take home and hear the Christmas story.
Love Our City Christmas is on Saturday, December 9th, at 9:30am at 6850 Five Star Blvd. in Rocklin, California.
